ADVANSA's ocean-friendly cushion filling

Quallofil Blue from ADVANSA is an eco-friendly upgrade of a well-known premium fibrefill, offering long-lasting, FIRA Gold-certified performance, while helping to keep the world's oceans clean thanks to a partnership with Plastic Bank, globally recognised as a leading solution to the problem of ocean and beach plastic, one of today's most urgent environmental issues.

Quallofil Blue is made by ADVANSA, a leading European fibre fillings producer, using ocean-bound recycled plastic collected by Plastic Bank.

It is estimated that 10 million tonnes of plastic waste enters the ocean each year, and this pollution impacts sea turtles, whales, sea birds, fish, and countless other species and habitats.

Plastic Bank's mission is to help prevent and reduce the flow of plastic waste into oceans or beaches – which mainly happens in coastal regions around the world that do not have efficient waste or recycling systems – while at the same time opening up opportunities for people living in poverty.

Plastic Bank encourages people in coastal regions to collect plastic waste before it enters the oceans and rivers, and to exchange it for income such as cash, school tuition, healthcare, or Blockchain-secured digital tokens. The organisation says this makes an impactful change towards protecting the environment while improving the lives of people in some of the poorest regions of the world.

The collected plastic is cleaned, recycled, and transformed with hi-tech technology at ADVANSA into top-grade Quallofil Blue filling. Each Quallofil Blue sofa cushion, using 100% recycled plastic, is made from approximately 400 recycled bottles.

In co-operation with Plastic Bank, ADVANSA says it has prevented over 74 million plastic bottles from entering the world’s oceans. ADVANSA fibres are also certified by GRS, and audited for traceability.

Cushions filled with Quallofil Blue are available from licensed UK producers United Fillings and Platt & Hill.
