Proskills calls for apprenticeship support

According to Proskills UK Group, the Government announced last year that it is introducing new apprenticeship standards in England, and these will replace the current apprenticeship frameworks in 2017.

The aim of the new standards is to: increase the quality of apprenticeships; put employers in the driving seat; and simplify the system. According to Proskills, if not enough support is forthcoming, the industry is in danger of losing the apprenticeships and qualifications for the furniture sector.

In order to make the submission, Proskills is seeking support from employers in the industry which are interested in supporting this development by joining the steering group, the development group, or as a consultee.

Proskills is also working with bed manufacturer Silentnight to prepare a submission to be a trailblazer and develop a new furniture apprenticeship standard.

To offer support, contact Lisa Williamson, standards and qualification manager at Proskills UK Group, by 9th June, at [email protected].
