IKEA has announced the upcoming opening of a new small store in Hall Road Retail Park, Norwich on Thursday 28th August.
The store reflects a new format for the business. Following the recent opening of IKEA Harlow in Essex, this is the second of three small stores to open this year.
The format has been developed to be significantly faster and more cost-effective to open than traditional IKEA stores. As a result, IKEA Norwich will open its doors just over 100 days after acquiring the lease.
Milosz Grobelny, unit manager for IKEA Norwich, says: “We’re really excited about opening our new IKEA Norwich store – it may be small, but it’s packed with everything you’d expect from IKEA. This is a big step for us as we try out new ways to reach more people in more places. We can’t wait to become part of the Norwich community – a fine city – and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone when we open later this month.”
The store will be led by a team of around 40 members of staff with a variety of specialist skills.
Councillor Mike Stonard, leader of Norwich City Council, says: “I am delighted to see this household name return to Norwich, which will help bring the jobs, opportunity and growth we are striving for through our community-led plan. This is a huge vote of confidence in our city and a fantastic boost for our regional economy.”
