Charity shooting event goes north

The furnishing industry’s most popular fundraising event, Big Shots clay pigeon shooting, is going north for the first time on 10th April.

The venue is the Coniston Hotel and Country Estate, set in the scenic surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales near Skipton. The day is being organised by a veteran team: Victor Giannandrea, former sales director of Millbrook Beds; David Langford of Peroda, the brains behind the original Big Shots; and Tony Attard of Panaz, The Furniture Makers’ Company charity president.

The aim is to provide a top-class platform for the trade, either for team building or to network with customers. At the same time, participants will be raising much-needed funds for The Furniture Makers' Company, the furnishing industry's charity, which provides help to those in need, supports and educates the next generation of designers and makers, and champions excellence for the industry.

“Big Shots is a very successful annual event for the charity’s fundraising and in the industry’s social calendar,” says Victor. “But it’s noticeable that not many attend from northern parts. We felt sure that if we could stage a similar event closer to home for the many hundreds of companies north of Birmingham, we could attract a brand new audience, provide a fun and useful networking day out – and raise much-needed funds for the charity at the same time.”

The day is not just for regular shots or just for men – ladies are encouraged to attend. Expert guidance will be on hand for novices, and there will be prizes for all abilities. The day includes breakfast and a sit-down lunch with wine, prize giving, charity auction and raffle. Both individuals or teams of four are welcome – there is also a range of sponsorship opportunities.

Northern Big Shots is one of a number of new events being organised in aid of The Furniture Makers’ Company by the new northern fundraising group. This group is being led by Karen Fairhurst from Panaz and its overall aim is to promote The Furniture Makers’ Company, the furnishing industry’s charity, within the region while focusing on fundraising activities.
