Bedmaker's new TV campaign spotlights British craftsmanship

Norfolk family business, Iron & Brass Bed Company, is putting British wool, sheep farmers and traditional manufacturing skills in the national spotlight with a new television advert that celebrates the journey from field to finished mattress.

The manufacturer, which has more than 20 years of bedmaking experience, launched the campaign to coincide with Wool Month in October, showcasing the British craftsmanship behind its mattresses and featuring the Made in Britain trademark.

The new advert opens with company founder Amanda Oldfield tending to her own flock of sheep before following the manufacturing process, from preparing British wool to hand-finishing the mattresses. The campaign highlights the company's commitment to sourcing wool directly from British sheep farmers, with a fair price agreed before shearing takes place.

"The wool can also be traced back to the farms and farming families that supply it, providing a direct connection between British agriculture and the finished product," says the Iron & Brass Bed Company. "The company's mattresses are manufactured exclusively in Britain, with every stage of production taking place under one roof, including drawing the wire for the springs, hand-teasing the wool and traditional side-stitching.

"Iron & Brass Bed Company is also the first bedmaker in the UK to have its mattresses officially accredited by the Made in Britain trademark, helping customers identify products manufactured in the UK."

Amanda Oldfield, founder of Iron & Brass Bed Company, says: “When you look at a finished mattress, so much of what makes it special is hidden. You don’t see the farmer tending their flock, feel the fleece becoming softer as it’s teased by hand, or meet the person carefully stitching the border.

“We wanted to open that world up. Starting with my own sheep made the film feel very personal, but it tells a much wider story about British farming and the skilled people who turn these wonderful natural materials into something we sleep on every night.”

The new campaign comes as British manufacturers continue to highlight the importance of domestic supply chains and the people responsible for producing goods in the UK. By featuring the Made in Britain trademark, the advert also helps customers recognise the British manufacturing credentials of the mattresses, while bringing greater visibility to the farmers and craftspeople involved in their production.

According to a 2026 YouGov survey commissioned by Made in Britain, 70% of British consumers are more likely to buy a product displaying the internationally recognised trademark, up from 44% in 2025.

John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, notes: "There's something particularly fitting about a British bedmaker shining a light on the people and materials behind a good night's sleep. Iron & Brass Bed Company's commitment to British wool and manufacturing demonstrates how closely our agricultural and manufacturing industries are connected. From the farmers supplying the wool to the skilled craftspeople producing the finished mattresses, this is a great example of British businesses supporting one another. The advert has been cinematically crafted to make industry and endeavour more attractive to everyone.

"It's especially encouraging to see the Made in Britain trademark featured so prominently in a national campaign, helping more people recognise where products are made and the expertise that goes into them."
