Opportunities to carve a rewarding career in British furnituremaking are the cornerstone of a new campaign by national trade body British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM).
The Future of Furniture aims to highlight the value and variety of careers within the industry, as well as showcasing the steps the industry is taking to support a greener approach to manufacturing.
Central to the campaign’s content will be stories from across the BFM’s membership, featuring case studies, print, video and social media over the next 12 months and beyond.
The BFM will launch the campaign at the January Furniture Show 2023.
At the event, the trade body will give out two accolades to BFM members in recognition of excellence in sustainability and education - the BFM Future of Excellence in Sustainability Award and the BFM Excellence in Education Award.

Sean Holt, MD of the BFM, says: “Research conducted by Businesswise Solutions and BFM last year showed that 75% of our industry see the management of environmental challenges as a key priority. Our members also frequently raise issues about how we can attract talent to the industry.
“We’ve taken these two areas as the central pillars of The Future of Furniture, and we want to use the campaign to show the steps our members are taking in this important area. By highlighting a commitment to sustainability, we can continue to build on the compelling attributes associated with British-made goods, including quality, safety, comfort and professionalism.
“We’re excited to be launching the campaign at the January Furniture Show 2023. The winners will be announced at the show, and we’ll capture the moment on video and with photography to amplify the result across different channels.
“Throughout 2023 there will be opportunities for all our members to get involved in the campaign, and we’ll keep them informed of the activities planned.”
