British bed brand makes US appointment

Bedmaker Harrison Spinks has appointed Scott Hollis as its first US-based sales manager, with the specific task of helping the business venture into North America.

Scott says: “I was honoured to have been contacted by Harrison Spinks. This year I felt like there was an opportunity for me to move forward in my career and start this exciting venture to bring this brand, with a history since 1840, to the forefront of the North American luxury mattress market.

“This is a gigantic task, but I have always been up to the mattress industry and its demands. I am looking forward to having Harrison Spinks in a lot of retailers across North America in the coming months, and building this brand into a great option for the market, bringing these 100% recyclable and natural products to retailers and customers all over the country.”

Nick Booth, MD of Harrison Spinks Beds, comments: “The journey to bring Harrison Spinks’ sustainable, luxury mattresses overseas isn’t an easy job, and we are more than confident that Scott can deliver this for the brand. We are excited to have him on board and to see what the future holds for the business in the US.”

Before starting in May 2021 with Harrison Spinks, Scott worked for 25 years in the mattress industry, where he began in the retail market owning his own stores. This led him to becoming a sales rep and then making the transition into the luxury mattress category. Most recently he was in the south-western US region, working for Shifman Mattress as territory sales manager, increasing brand awareness and establishing a growing market with Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s.

Before this he spent almost five years as sales manager for Vispring in Western North America, developing strategies which led to growing its sales by +65%.
