JYSK to open Greater Manchester stores this summer

Danish retailer JYSK is set to open two new stores within the Greater Manchester region as part of its ambitious UK expansion plans.

The first will open on 10th June in Bury at Angouleme Retail Park, followed by a store in Stockport on Manchester Road Retail Park on 8th July. The openings are set to create some 25 new jobs.

“We are thrilled to be opening two stores in Greater Manchester to make our affordable and much-loved furniture even more accessible in the north,” says Jenny Johnston, JYSK sales and marketing manager, UK & Ireland. “Our head office operations are also based in Stockport, so we have a strong affinity for the area and continue to see it prosper. The Bury and Stockport stores will bring the affordable Scandi homewares and furniture that we are synonymous with to discerning and design-conscious shoppers of Greater Manchester, who will be able to click and collect the same day, as well as explore exclusive in-store lines.”

The new openings come off the back of record results in the UK and Ireland during 2019/20, with total sales reaching €41m – an increase of +74% on 2018/19.

After hitting the milestone of 3000 stores worldwide in February, JYSK set its next goal of 5000 stores worldwide – and 26 in the UK by the end of this financial year. Stores in Leeds, Barnsley, and Gainsborough will also open during 2021.
