Furniture Village appoints IT lead to board

Furniture Village has appointed Mike Broughton, its IT and business development director, to the board of directors.

A digital transformation and retail expert, Mike brings a wealth of blue-chip experience to Furniture Village. Leading IT functions for global corporations across multiple sectors, his career highlights include transformative roles at William Hill, Asda Walmart, Dixons Carphone, FSA and Barclays Bank.

Charlie Harrison, commercial director at Furniture Village, comments: “With Mike’s formidable IT acumen and strategic vision, we can meaningfully accelerate our growth plans. It’s a pleasure to work alongside him, taking our business to new heights.”

Peter Harrison, founder and CEO of Furniture Village, adds: “I’m delighted to welcome Mike to the board. In the three years he’s been with us he’s demonstrated countless wins. With his appetite for success and for fun, he’s going to be instrumental in helping us realise our ambitions.”

Mike adds: “My role is focused on doing things better, as well as doing better things through innovation and technology. The lack of politics and speed of decisionmaking at Furniture Village means that if we spot a commercial opportunity, we go for it. In lockdown, we introduced our new 3D store within four days from idea to execution. It’s exhilarating. There’s never a dull moment.”

On his objectives for 2021, Mike, a water sports enthusiast, says: “On the water, completing a 360° wakeboard jump. Off the water, driving performance by equipping our senior managers with the skills, tools and techniques to look critically at all areas and implement improvements.”
