Ex-Sainsbury's CEO joins Oak Furnitureland 

Solid wood furniture retailer Oak Furnitureland has announced the appointment of Mike Coupe as its chairman, effective from 4th January 2021.

Mike led Sainsbury’s for six years as CEO, where he was the architect of its takeover of Home Retail Group. In a career spanning 35 years, Mike has also worked at a number of the UK’s leading retail businesses including Iceland, Asda and Tesco.

Commenting on the appointment, Oak Furnitureland CEO Alex Fisher says: “Mike has invaluable experience working at the very top level of the retail sector and he will play a key role as we implement our growth plans over the next few years. It’s great to have him on board.”

Mike adds: “I’m very excited to be joining Oak Furnitureland at a pivotal time for the business and I look forward to working with Alex and the management team to realise the business’ ambitions in 2021 and beyond.”
