Health and wellbeing company, Mammoth, was the proud sponsor of the 2020 Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) Hall of Fame Award. Hosted by Alex Payne and James Haskell of The Good, the Bad and the Rugby podcast, the recent ceremony was held virtually due to Covid-19, in honour of the players who have stood out – both on and off the field.
On the night, Sir Bill Beaumont, chairman of World Rugby, was the worthy winner of the Hall of Fame Award, sponsored by Mammoth. Mammoth is gifting one of its naturally cooling Medical Grade foam mattresses to Sir Bill, as part of his prize.
The former rugby union player, who captained England and now heads up world rugby, was honoured to be recognised by players, and commented on the night: “I am still a player at heart, I still think like a player, I still think I can play, but that’s the great thing about our game.” His fondest memory was playing for his country, the highlight of his rugby life, and he reminisced about the “good old days”, as well as looking to the future in his role in world rugby.
Mammoth is the official bed and seating partner to the RPA. The company has an exclusive partnership to provide sleep and wellness advice, education and support to professional rugby players past and present, across the country. As a direct result of the partnership, there are around 250 active and retired rugby players currently sleeping on Mammoth mattresses.
John Tuton, founder and CEO of Mammoth, says: “It was a privilege to back the Rugby Players’ Association Awards and see the legend Sir Bill Beaumont announced as 2020 winner of the Hall of Fame Award. Congratulations to Sir Bill and all at the RPA for putting on such a fantastic event.
“Rugby is in our blood. Mammoth was founded after I suffered a rugby injury myself, and developed the first prototype mattress to relieve pressure and restore my health and fitness. We have been proud partners to the RPA for many years and bring our passion and enthusiasm to educating players about the importance of sleep and comfort.
“For over a decade, we have supported the country’s sporting elite to better sleep, recovery and performance. We have an impressive portfolio of athletes who sleep on a Mammoth mattress, truly affirming our credentials as the go-to provider for anyone who chooses optimum health and wellness.”
Gaia Bursell, RPA head of commercial and Team England, comments: “We have been working with Mammoth for many years and our partnership has gone from strength to strength. As a company founded on better health and wellness for all, Mammoth embodies all the values of the RPA in our support for the wellbeing of our players through their careers and beyond. It was fantastic to have Mammoth’s support at the 2020 virtual RPA Awards to help us celebrate the incredible achievements of players both on and off the field.”
