Malaysia's EFE joins roster of postponed trade shows

In light of the spreading coronavirus and its impact on travel, Malaysia's Export Furniture Exhibition (EFE) 2020 has been rescheduled to 27-29th August, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The decision was taken following a meeting on 17th February between the organiser, EFE Expo, and exhibitors.

"There are a lot of uncertainties arising from travel disruptions and other circumstances due to concerns of the Covid-19 situation," reads a statement. "Some countries have recently issued travel advisories and companies are restricting travel of their executives.

"In light of the constantly evolving situation, we have taken the difficult decision to reschedule the event through the meeting and voting. We appreciate the international buyers who had looked forward to attending the show in March and hope to have their continued support to attend on the new date."

EFE joins a raft of trade exhibitions which have been driven to cancel or postpone. In China, CIFF Guangzhou, Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition (SIFE) and 3F have been postponed, while Design Shanghai has been pushed back to 26-29th May, while the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) has been rescheduled to 30th June to 3rd July.

As it stands, Indonesia’s IFEX and Vietnam’s VIFA will still take place as scheduled. Singapore’s IFFS had already planned to take a strategic break in 2020.
