The JDP Group is proposing to transfer the production of upholstery under its Cintique brand to another of its companies, the nearby rise-and-recline furniture specialist Celebrity Motion Furniture.

In a prepared statement, Celebrity states that it sees this potential transfer as "a positive move for the JDP Group and for its retailers", and that both teams are "looking forward to revitalising the Cintique offer".

Celebrity's MD, Wayne Hollis, says he can see "huge benefits to retailers through increased levels of service and sales support. The Cintique brand will benefit from the investments that Celebrity have already made in computerised cutting machinery and the expansion of the development team".

The group, which also comprises Welbeck House and Arlo & Jacob, revealed significant losses last year, prompting it to withdraw the Wade Upholstery brand from the independent market.
