Charity sailing regatta returns this year

The Furniture Makers’ Company, a City of London livery company and the furnishing industry’s charity, has announced the return of the Furniture Industry Sailing Regatta in 2018.

The regatta, which was last held in 2008, is taking place on 16-17th June in Cowes, Isle of Wight and Hamble, Southampton, and is being organised by specialist Britannia Events.

The sailing will start on Saturday morning, finishing in the afternoon at the yachting capital, Cowes, with dinner and a charity auction taking place along with an update on the winners and losers of the first day.

Sunday hangovers will be blown away with a morning’s final race, finishing up in Hamble for lunch and prize giving.

Theresa Raymond, organiser of the event, says: “If you have never sailed before and think it’s for the elite few – or you are just a confirmed landlubber – now is your chance to discover your inner Ellen McArthur or Ben Ainslie. This will be a memorable weekend to share with work colleagues or customers – great fun but with some serious competition thrown in for all those who really like to win, while raising money for our industry charity.”

The cost of a boat for 10 guests is £2895, with each boat coming with an experienced skipper and mate.
