January Furniture Show announces a series of seminars in partnership with SBID

January Furniture Show – in partnership with the Society of British & International Design (SBID) - announces its first series of seminars for professionals in the furniture and interior design sectors.

On Tuesday 23rd January industry experts will share their in-depth knowledge and experience across a wide range of subjects with show exhibitors and visitors.

Starting at 2pm Colour Talks, presented by the new SBID Colour Council, will explore the power of colour in order to bring further knowledge and inspiration to the interior design industry.

Co-chairs of SBID Colour Council, Carolina Calzada Oliviera and Neil Edwards, will introduce this latest exciting SBID initiative - a forum for knowledge, research and education in all aspects of colour and which aims to gather the best colour experts in the world covering everything from History to Trends, Costs to Benefits, Wellbeing to Productivity. SBID Colour Council will be your way to connect to colour experts.

Guest speakers will then discuss different aspects of colour. Applied Colour Psychology expert Justine Fox will present Material Colour: Psychology and Trend. Marianne Shillingford, Creative Design Director at Dulux will shed light on Colour for Smarter Spaces.

At 11am Ian Cathcart of Franklite Ltd – who has nearly three decades of experience within the lighting industry - will run a Continuing Professional Development Course – Lighting – (worth 2 CPD points). All about Light and Colour, the course will cover various lighting technologies and the human response to shades of white light. Colour temperature and colour appearance are all considered, along with the means of measurement and values associated with artificial light.

Events are free to attend but booking is required via the SBID. The seminars will take place in the SBID Space in Hall 2 – stand C90.
