Mammoth ambassador Anne Dickins awarded MBE

Mammoth ambassador Anne Dickins has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2017.

Anne, a World, European and Olympic Para canoe champion, has been a Mammoth Ambassador since 2014 when she approached the team for help with her recovery from a serious back injury.

Having previously competed at a high level as an endurance mountain biker, Anne is also a practicing member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. It was back in 2011 that her sporting career took a serious setback due to an injury caused by a ruptured disc in her back. It was six months before Anne could even begin to walk again and she knew that the injury meant she would never cycle competitively again. Anne feared her sporting career might be over, until a chance encounter with British Paracanoe coach Colin Radmore at London 2012, where she was volunteering as a Gamesmaker, changed everything.

“It was during my recovery from my back injury and my training to be picked for the Para canoe team that I approached Mammoth for help with improved sleep,” explains Anne. “As a physiotherapist I appreciate the importance of sleep and comfort in the healing process and, having done lots of research into mattresses, I found that Mammoth was the only mattress to be backed up by science and is incredibly comfortable too. The mattress has given me confidence to know that my body is being looked after while I sleep.”

Mammoth’s Medical Grade Foam mattresses have been clinically proven to improve sleep by Northumbria University’s Centre for Sleep Research and been highly commended by NHS Innovations in the field of pressure relief.

“When Anne Dickens approached us to help with her recovery process by providing her with a Mammoth mattress we jumped at the chance,” said John Tuton, managing director and founder of Mammoth.

“Anne’s story is a truly inspirational one and we are proud to have played a small part in helping her achieve her dream of becoming an Olympic and World Champion. As a Chartered Physiotherapist, Anne knows as well as anyone how important rest and recovery is to the body and mind. We are absolutely delighted to congratulate Anne on her well-deserved MBE and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Anne and following her sporting career closely.”
