First names announced for Clerkenwell Design Week

Clerkenwell Design Week is in its fifth edition this year, and the event looks set to yet again encompass the true spirit of the design community in one of the world’s most vibrant, creative hubs. Housed in Clerkenwell’s most historic buildings, the four focused exhibitions – The Design Factory, Detail, Platform and Additions – will see the return of an array of leading international design brands, as well as the debut of some exciting newcomers.

The Design Factory at the iconic Farmiloe Building, will continue to present a stellar line-up of UK and international furniture, lighting and product design brands. Returning brands such as Foscarini, BoConcept, Another Country, Anglepoise, Pinch and Mark will preview their latest collections alongside new participating brands including Benchmark, Vitamin Design, Discipline and Decode London.

Focusing on fine craftsmanship and high luxury, Detail at the Priory of the Order of St John will celebrate some of the best and most prestigious names in high-end interior design. In addition to the venue’s majestic Church, Crypt and Cloister garden, a new pop-up pavilion will be installed on St John’s Square. Key names such as Ochre, Ginger and Jagger, Munna and Tracy Kendall will return to the venue once again, while the likes of Christopher Jenner for Drummonds and St Judes will make their debut at the show this year.

Former subterranean prison, The House of Detention, will provide an atmospheric, architectural backdrop for Platform, a fantastic showcase of emerging young designers from around the world. This year’s line-up highlights a strong presence of home-grown design talent, from Kit Miles and Katy Goutefangea to James Tattersall, Robert Scott and Clivework.

New to Clerkenwell Design Week 2014 is Additions, taking over the Crypt on the Green at St James Church. Set against a dynamic design arcade setting, Additions will exhibit small design pieces and home accessories, with a curated collection of the best in contemporary design. Designers including Chisel and Mouse, HAM, Tori Murphy and Jimbobart will showcase their latest collections in this new venue – an ideal hotspot for key retail buyers, interior designers and specifiers.

Clerkenwell Design Week 2014 will continue its strong relationships with the local design showrooms, studios and galleries, promoting the most innovative projects in architecture and design in addition to a stimulating programme of talks, seminars and workshops with leading industry experts during the three-day festival. Participating brands include high-end contract furniture, lighting, kitchen and bathroom brands and material manufacturers – from Cappellini, Knoll, Vitra and Arper, to Cassina, Brunner, Porcelanosa and Brintons.

Clerkenwell Design Week will be held from 20th-22nd May.
