Leading mattress technologist John Tuton shared his knowledge with students as part of a university degree course.

John, MD of Mammoth Mattresses – one of the fastest-growing names in the bed business with turnover rapidly approaching £2m per annum – addressed around 90 students at Newcastle University.

His subject was ‘Bringing Biomedical Technology Innovations To Market’ as part of the university’s Bio-Medicine course.

John says: “These students are the industry leaders of tomorrow and it’s essential they’re given the right education to equip them with the skills to make their mark on the industry and drive it forward.

“I was delighted to be able to play my part in their education by sharing my knowledge and experience with them.”

The Mammoth Sleep Science mattress uses medical grade foam and has been designed for an environment where imbalances in body heat, sweat, hydration and circulation can often mean the difference between life and death.

Medical grade foam doesn’t use heat to work – just the body’s weight and shape. So it doesn’t feel hard in winter and soft in summer, doesn’t raise body temperature and doesn’t discourage movement while sleeping – allowing for the 50 to 60 shifts that the body needs to make in the night.

Mammoth’s medical grade foam achieves Crib 5 Fire Retardancy Rating which enables it to be used in contract settings including hospitals, hotels and private sleep testing clinics.

Due to stringent testing, Mammoth mattresses are Class 1 registered medical devices with the Medical and Healthcare Regulatory Authority (MHRA).

Mammoth Technologies now enjoys affiliations with other leading health, educational and sporting authorities that include the University of Northumbria Sleep Science Centre, The Newcastle University school of Bio-Sciences, the British Athletes Association, the English and Irish Rugby Players Associations and the UK Chiropractic Patients Association to name a few.

The Mammoth name can now be found in stores ranging from Selfridges to AHF (the Co-op) to Furniture Village and a number of leading independent retailers.
