Dwell founder comes to the rescue

Aamir Ahmad, founder of collapsing furniture retailer Dwell, has finalised a deal to save the mid-market contemporary furniture business.

Five stores - Tottenham Court Road, Westfield White City, Westfield Stratford, Lakeside and Barton Square in Manchester - have been rescued, with Aamir hoping to complete deals with other landlords.

The 23-store chain was placed into administration last month after restructuring talks designed to bring fresh capital into the business broke down.

150 jobs have been saved by the announced rescue package, with stores set to reopen on Saturday (6th July), in addition to the firm's ecommerce website.

According to the company, advice to customers who have outstanding orders will be available on its social media platforms.

"Our priority lies with the customers and suppliers who have been let down by the former management. We are working hard to try and resolve the issues, in particular outstanding customer orders," says Aamir.

"Although we are not legally obliged to, we are doing everything we can to find a solution for customers who have lost out. Our primary goal is to help customer and suppliers regain their trust in the Dwell brand."
