Restructured Ambiente looks ahead

International consumer goods fair Ambiente returns to Frankfurt from 8-12th this month, covering three product areas – Dining, Living and Giving – and presenting a raft of inspirational features and seminars for forward-thinking retailers …

Ambiente represents a significant sourcing opportunity for any buyer seeking anything from dining, cooking and household items to furnishings and fashion accessories.

“Exhibitors from around 90 countries will be setting trends for 2019 and beyond,” says Ambiente’s vice-president, Nicolette Naumann, of the upcoming edition. “In 2018, Frankfurt attracted 4376 exhibitors from 88 countries, occupying over 308,000 sqm of gross exhibition space and demonstrating their new developments and innovations for five days.”

That edition attracted 134,600 trade visitors from 168 countries, keen to explore the broad product offer on display – and improvements ahead of this year’s fair mean this momentum is likely to be maintained.

The opening of Hall 12 at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds last autumn has given the show’s organiser an opportunity to develop a completely new show structure – visitors will now find Living and Giving, with interior design including furniture, lighting and accessories, in Hall 8, while Interiors & Decoration in Hall 9 will feature all the above, plus design concepts, home textiles and more.

Global Sources is now a well-established part of the international volume business taking place at Ambiente, and this year the Sourcing and Dining area covers four levels in Hall 10 – comprising some 1500 exhibitors from 55 nations in all, and making Frankfurt one of the premier trading locations for volume business outside of China.

Following in the footsteps of Denmark, France, Japan, the US, Italy, the UK and the Netherlands, the forthcoming Ambiente partner country will be the Republic of India. This partnership will be reflected across a wide range of products by traditional crafts and artisans, curated and designed by Jaipur-based Indian designer Ayush Kasliwal, and shown again in Galleria 1.

As always, the Ambiente Academy will provide insights into current market developments, while key trends across dining, cooking, living and giving will be presented by design studio Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano in Galleria 1.
