Long Point promises fresh perspectives

This May, the trade shifts its focus to Long Eaton, as spring’s Long Point show, taking place from 11-13th May across a network of 15 showroom locations (14 of which are in or within close proximity to the Derbyshire town), returns …

The event will see more than 30 exhibitors unveil a wide spectrum of designs, demonstrating the strength and diversity of British furniture today, alongside a range of high-quality imports.

Among the members of the Long Eaton Guild of Furniture Manufacturers, which organises the biannual event, Artistic Upholstery will introduce its Mythos show-wood collection, which is crafted entirely in-house, while sister company Iain James Furniture – the roster’s only UK-made cabinet company – will showcase new occasional furniture alongside including a striking media unit in burr oak.

David Gundry Fine Furniture will present its high-end collections, reinforcing the enduring appeal of British craftsmanship at the premium end of the market, while Gascoigne Designs will showcase a diverse range of luxury furnishings, from Italian hand-carved show-wood designs to timeless traditional pieces, alongside a bespoke service.

Luxury upholstery remains a defining theme of the show. This year, Duresta, Parker Knoll and G Plan will share their latest collections at Parker Knoll’s HQ in Sutton-in-Ashfield, offering visitors a dedicated destination to experience some of the UK’s most recognised upholstery brands. Across their collections, visitors can expect “new models, refined comfort technologies, and a continued focus on craftsmanship and design evolution”.

Siren Furniture will present recently introduced designs alongside some of its most established models. The newest additions draw inspiration from their designer’s Irish homeland, “where landscape and heritage inform soft forms, relaxed comfort and a grounded character,” says Siren, “bringing warmth and individuality to contemporary upholstery”.

Buoyant Upholstery continues to focus on thoughtful design and reliable manufacturing, with collections developed to appeal to a broad spectrum of tastes while maintaining consistent standards of comfort, durability and functionality. Building on strong feedback from earlier launches, including the Prestige and Ashley Manor collections, the company is looking ahead with a clear pipeline of newness to support its retail partners.

Meridian Upholstery will introduce two new models developed specifically for the show, featuring on-trend fabrics aimed at the retail market. These sit alongside existing designs shown in a variety of configurations, reflecting the brand’s direction this year.

Elsewhere, Tamarisk will showcase its newest bench-made upholstered furniture, including enhanced seat interiors designed to deliver increased comfort and support. Carefully selected fabrics and finishes, alongside new sales support materials, underline the brand’s focus on craftsmanship, durability and bespoke UK-made quality.

Cabinet and dining furniture also feature strongly this season. Hartmann will introduce the Vala and Audra collections, combining solid wood craftsmanship with contemporary finishes, while Wiemann will deliver new bedroom ranges including the Macao VIP series, incorporating integrated lighting and architectural detailing.

Carlton Furniture and The Vintage Sofa Company continue to evolve their distinctive patchwork aesthetic with the Toffee Patchwork range, while Michael Tyler Furniture will mark its 50th anniversary with new models and fabrics.

New exhibitors and fresh perspectives

Spring Long Point will also welcome several new exhibitors, bringing fresh energy and perspectives to the event. These include: Paulus & Brown, a Long Eaton-based manufacturer specialising in handcrafted furniture for bespoke, retail and contract projects, with a strong focus on design-led production;

Bradbery & Cooke, showcasing handcrafted furniture that blends traditional methods with contemporary design; Covercraft, unveiling a new showroom concept focused on versatile upholstery solutions; and Wallace & Howe, a Long Eaton-based upholstery manufacturer that creates handcrafted sofas, chairs and bespoke pieces, combining traditional British craftsmanship with a contemporary design approach – following the acquisition of Steed Upholstery and Peter Guild last year, the company now offers an expanded portfolio across classic and contemporary styles.

Returning guest exhibitors also play a key role in broadening the offer. Bluebone will present a characterful mix of furniture and accessories, including reclaimed teak dining tables, statement room dividers and oversized coffee tables, alongside new additions such as Hardwick oak dining and Lille cabinetry in smoked oak and rattan. The collection extends into bedroom and home accessories, with design-led woven beds, weathered pine four posters, and a selection of kiln-fired pots, baskets and wooden homewares.

Abode continues to build on over a decade of design and development, evolving its collections to offer a complete in-store story. Alongside the established success of Placid and Lille Bedroom, the introduction of Lille Living & Dining expands the brand’s cohesive lifestyle offer, supported by upholstery and accessories and underpinned by reliable lead times.

Violino will unveil a fully refreshed showroom concept, with every sofa group new for the show. The collection spans a wide range of UK-focused designs across both static and power models, complemented by new fabrics and leathers, as well as promotional lines designed to offer retailers flexibility and strong commercial appeal.

At The Helm and Hydeline promise a curated spring show, bringing together signature At The Helm styles – from classic chesterfields to relaxed contemporary forms – with a strong stock-led programme designed for quick delivery. Hydeline, meanwhile, will build on the momentum of its recent launch with a confident upholstery offer across a wide choice of leathers and fabrics, creating “a cohesive, lifestyle-led presentation focused on accessibility and immediate appeal”.

Supporting the wider industry, companies including Peter Cook (components and machinery), Warwick Fabrics (textiles), and WEBS Training (skills and apprenticeships) reflect the full ecosystem behind furniture manufacturing, from supply chain to future talent development.
