John Lewis makes changes in senior management

The John Lewis Partnership today announces a number of changes in senior management:

Andrew Murphy has been appointed to the newly-created role of group productivity director. He joined the Group in 1992 and most recently held the position of retail director for five years at John Lewis.

The purpose of the new role is to work closely with the chairman's Committee and Partnership Board to develop implementable plans that will support the Partnership's productivity improvements, financial strategy and the future organisation structure.

As retail director, Mark Lewis will take responsibility for both shop and online operations. The move will allow John Lewis to accelerate the full integration of its channels and lead the next generation of omnichannel retail. Mark joined John Lewis as online director in 2013.

In addition to his current responsibilities for supply chain and merchandising, Dino Rocos will also assume responsibility for omnichannel customer ordering, contact handling and Health & Safety. Dino joined the Partnership in 1976.

Building on her current role as buying and brand director, Paula Nickolds will become commercial director. Paula will now lead the development of the John Lewis proposition of the future including new store formats. Paula joined the Partnership as a graduate trainee in 1994.

Craig Inglis will take up the new role of customer director and in this position will continue to be responsible for marketing and customer insight, but his remit will now include responsibility for end-to-end customer experience. Craig is currently marketing director at John Lewis, having joined the Partnership in 2008.

Sir Charlie Mayfield, the Partnership's chairman, says: "The rapid rate of change in retail is set to continue and therefore the time is right for us to develop the thinking that will help sustain the Partnership in the next generation and I am delighted that Andrew has agreed to take up this new role. His appointment is part of the plans we are putting in place to deliver the Partnership's strategy in the next five years and follows the announcement of Tom Athron's appointment as Group Development Director in June 2015."

Andy Street, MD, says: "These important changes to the John Lewis Management Board place the customer at the heart of our decision making. The new John Lewis Board composition will ensure we continue to lead omnichannel retailing in the UK."
