Lovelace Furniture's founder passes away

Charles Lovelace, who founded and owned Cambridge-based pine furniture manufacturer Lovelace Furniture, died aged 80 on 19th November.

"Charles was a well-known and much-loved character in the furniture industry," writes Charles' friend, Stuart Jones.

"Charles started his company in Cambridge in 1973. He built his factory himself from scratch, before creating one of the UK’s leading and most successful pine furniture ranges, selling to leading stores nationwide.

"Always with an eye for innovation and good design, Charles was a frequent recipient of the prestigious Furniture Awards, and was greatly respected throughout the industry.

"He also had a passion for sailing on the Norfolk Broads, competing in his classic vintage river yacht, which he had himself completely restored.”

Lovelace Furniture operated from 1973-2000.
