Sales surge at Sofa Club

Sofa Club reports that it has seen a huge spike in sales since June 2020, and is on track to hit record sales by June 2021.

The retailer experienced a significant increase in June 2020, following the first lockdown – its sofa sales doubled during this period. As a result of growing demand for home furnishings, Sofa Club has projected growth for the next 12 months to be a further +25% increase YoY.

The company's website has been improved to to cope with demand. When all non-essential retail in the UK was forced to close, Sofa Club increased its influencer engagement and social activity, and says that, with customers now happy to rely on images seen online, this has enabled the growth of the brand's customer base.

After signing a deal with delivery firm, Wincanton, Sofa Club has been able to hold more stock, keeping lead times low - filling a 150,000 sqft warehouse with £5m of stock. With the company’s distribution centres remaining open during lockdown, Sofa Club continued to deliver quick turnaround.

Sofa Club recently opened a new lounge store in Westfield Stratford, and will soon open another in Manchester's Trafford Centre. The retailer is now looking to open at least another three more lounges this year, and wishes to double its portfolio by the end of 2022.

CEO Louis Rose comments: “We have seen a huge increase in growth over the last 12 months and we don’t see that slowing down. We are on track to hit record breaking sales by June of this year - and have kept up with the demand for sofas by expanding on our portfolio of stores.

“We have adapted and evolved our business model over the past few years – we have gone from having pop-up stores in shopping centres, to now having permanent lounge stores in six shopping centres, and counting.”
