New mezzanine enhances Lukehurst’s Sittingbourne store

Lukehurst, which has furniture stores in Sittingbourne and Rainham, has opened its doors again, with the added draw of a new mezzanine second-floor extension in Sittingbourne's store, offering more display space and an even wider choice of products.

Joint MD Kathryn Lukehurst comments: “We had originally planned to carry out this work last year, but then put things on hold due to Covid. However, we carried on planning, thinking we would go ahead probably in late 2021.

"Then, following the Government's announcement on 22nd February that we would not be able to reopen until at least the 12th April, we took the major decision to go ahead with the project immediately whilst we were not allowed to open. This meant we wouldn’t lose more trade later in the year by having to close again to carry out the work.

“Although the timescale was tight, worked progressed at an amazing rate. All the contractors have been really professional in helping us turn this project around so quickly and we are delighted with the result. We’ve had a fantastic first couple of days since opening again, and if sales are anything to go by, we are confident that the pent-up demand for quality furniture is there across the UK. We have already had so many wonderful comments about this exciting new retail area that we have created, and we look forward to continuing to welcome existing and new clients into store.”

The project has added around an extra 4000 sqft of floorspace to the Sittingbourne store.
