FIRA webinar revisits flammability

FIRA International, the UKAS-accredited testing house, has released details of its next webinar, entitled ‘The 'why' and 'how' of flammability testing for domestic and contract furniture’.

The webinar, which takes place on Friday 19th March at 10am, will be hosted by Howard James, testing and technical manager, and Steve Cotton, technical specialist. They will take delegates on the journey a flammability sample goes through, from when it arrives at FIRA International, to when it is tested and ultimately sent to be recycled.

The session will then move to an open Q&A, giving delegates the opportunity to (anonymously) ask questions which relate to their role or organisation.

James says: “Our February webinar, which focused on the flammability regulations, drew an audience of over 200 delegates. Unfortunately, time constraints did not allow us to answer each of the 84 questions which were submitted during the session.

“After reviewing patterns of questions asked, it was clear that the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of flammability testing was a strong theme. This led us to develop our new session to support the industry, and allow us to move to a much more practical format of demonstrating testing and show, step-by-step, the testing process and the rationale behind it.

“We’ll take delegates through the sample preparation, conditioning process, the actual test – where we’ll touch on some of the reasons why samples fail. We’re also dedicating more time to an open Q&A at the end to support as many as we can from across the industry and help keep them compliant.”

Registration is open here, and questions for the session can be submitted in advance to [email protected].
