Flat-packed sofa brand enjoys strong start

Launched at the beginning of March, British boxed sofa start-up Swyft Homes has already exceeded its initial £2m sales target for the year, with a further £1m sales planned for Christmas, thanks to the continued interest in decorating and home improvement brought on by the lockdown.

Founded by Kieran Hewkin and Paul Fielden, Swyft Homes' mission is to shake off the image of cheap, uncomfortable flat-packed furniture, and give customers "the freedom to have a beautifully crafted sofa with the speed and ease of ordering a takeaway. Delivered in less than 48 hours, the sofas can be self-assembled by one person without the need for any equipment thanks to its unique Swyft-lok system".

Kieran Hewkin says: “Historically, the sofa market has lacked any real online innovation. We wanted to create a brand that met the needs of today’s consumer and that meant creating a brand and concept that took the stress out of not only buying a sofa, but also fitting it through tight hallways and manoeuvring it up stairs. People expect great design and they want it yesterday, they don’t want to wait.”
