Lukehurst raises £1000 for local hospice

Lukehurst the Furnishers held a Christmas shopping event at its Sittingbourne store last Thursday evening, in collaboration with four other Kent businesses – Simpsons Wine, Cook, Gallery Direct and Elvis & Kresse.

As well as offering guests the chance to start getting organised for Christmas in an informal atmosphere, Lukehurst held a raffle, with the first prize being a recliner chair donated by Lukehurst, to raise funds for local charity Molly Wisdom Hospice. The raffle raised £500, and Lukehurst doubled this to give Molly Wisdom £1000.

Kathryn Lukehurst, MD, comments: “We would like to thank everyone who attended our event for their wonderful generosity in buying raffle tickets. Molly Wisdom Hospice is a charity which will be close to the hearts of many local residents and we are delighted to have chosen them as our partner charity for the next 12 months - to kick this off by raising £1000 was fantastic. We’d also like to thank Simpsons, Cook, Gallery Direct and Elvis & Kresse for their support for the event.”

Lukehurst is a third-generation family business with stores in Rainham and Sittingbourne. The retailer will celebrate its 50th year of trading next year, and is planning to hold another event to mark this occasion and raise more funds for Molly Wisdom.
