ScS declares resilience amid Sofa.com bid speculation

ScS, which hit the the headlines this week as Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley emerged as a rival bidder for Sofa.com, has issued a HY trading update ahead of the publication of its full interim results on 19th March.

Its states that the core ScS business has continued to trade in line with expectations, with LFL order intake growth of +1.5% for the 26 weeks ended 26th January 2019.  

Trading over the key winter sales period, whilst impacted by the loss of one trading day in the week of Boxing Day, was also in line with ScS' expectations.

In accordance with the plan announced on 25th October 2018, the group has now ceased trading from all 27 concessions within House of Fraser.

"Whilst we are mindful of the risk from the impending Brexit outcome," reads the statement, "we believe the group’s increasing resilience puts the business in a strong position to manage the continued economic uncertainty and take advantage of opportunities."
