Maisons du Monde opens first UK stores

French furniture and homeware brand Maisons du Monde, which has over 300 outlets across Europe and the Middle East, plus a strong ecommerce customer base in the UK, plans to open standalone stores here next year – in the meantime, it has appointed architect and design studio Prosper to install concessions in three Debenhams flagship stores - Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, Birmingham Bullring and Central Manchester.

The shop-in-shop departments, which were designed by Maisons du Monde’s design team and delivered by Prosper in less than three months, will bring the French retailer’s products to UK stores for the first time.

Jerome Garnier, senior international architect at Prosper, says: “Delivering the first UK stores for a brand that has as big and bold a character as Maisons du Monde was an incredibly exciting opportunity for us. Bringing an international store to the UK requires a design team with not only strong retail experience but also international architectural knowledge and importantly, relevant language capabilities. As most of the suppliers were French, we had the key role of liaising between them and their distributors, the client, the contractors who were receiving the goods and the Debenhams stores.”

"I’m confident the first UK stores will get the seal of approval from Maisons du Monde’s style-conscious customers.”
