Sealy gives back to local community

Aspatria-based bed manufacturer, Sealy UK, is celebrating raising over £1000 for a local charity, with the launch of its newly-formed charity committee.

The brand held its first official charity night on 4th February. Taking place in the neighbouring Aspatria Rugby Club, the event was held in order to raise money for Logan’s Journey, a fundraising venture set up for Logan Waite, a three-year-old from Aspatria undergoing cancer treatment. The evening was attended by sixty Sealy employees, all eager to assist Logan on his way to recovery.

Taking care of the brave youngster, who has had to have a cancerous tumour and his right kidney removed, Logan’s mother, Kerry Waite, says: “We’ve been overwhelmed by all the local support we’ve received since Logan was diagnosed. The funds raised by the community have really helped give Logan a new lease of life. Since being in hospital, we’ve been able to take him on days out whilst he’s recovering, this is so very precious to us - so we want everyone to know how much this fundraising for Logan’s Journey means to us.”

Lynsey Millican, head of the committee at Sealy, says: “This committee aims to bring everyone at Sealy HQ together to have fun, and at the same time give something back to the local community. We’re such a tight knit neighbourhood here in Aspatria that Logan’s Journey was the obvious choice when it came to deciding on a cause. We are delighted with the funds raised and would like to extend a very big thank you to everyone involved - especially Sheena and Barry Carruthers, who hosted the Casino night for free to help raise money for such a worthy cause, which I know is very close to so many of our hearts.”

Now a monthly activity, Sealy will be holding its next charity initiative in March for another local Cumbria-based charity.
