FreeFoam project partners gather in Slovenia

The partners of the EU-sponsored FreeFoam project met for the sixth time this February, at the offices of project partner Wood Industry Cluster (WIC) in Slovenia.

The partners gave presentations on individual and collaborative activities since the previous consortium meeting in July 2015 in accordance with the planned project framework, which aims to develop an improved PU foaming process using microencapsulated isocyanate to precisely control the foaming reaction during the production of PUR expanded foam.

The consortium agreed the activities to be performed in concluding and presenting the milestones that had been achieved throughout the course of the project in delivering a process for the microencapsulation of isocyanate and management of a reduced toxic foaming process in deriving homogeneous expanded PUR foam.

The meeting was followed by a training event at the PUR production facility of Plama PUR, also a project partner, which included a full factory tour and demonstration of PUR production, to understand the potential impact of FreeFoam science and technology in relation to existing techniques and processes.

FreeFoam commenced in May 2013, with a planned duration of three years. The project is funded by the EU Seventh Framework Programme.
