Mammoth celebrates lucrative year

Innovative mattress manufacturer, Mammoth Technologies, is celebrating its success following a near doubling of business in the past 12 months to an equivalent annual turnover of £2m.

Spearheaded by dynamic thirty-something entrepreneurs John Tuton and Mike Nash, Mammoth launched in 2012 and has seen a huge growth in the past year for its niche clinically proven, specialist mattresses. Since the beginning of 2013, the company has grown 135% on independent accounts and 125% on nationals and is on track to reach its target of £5million turnover in the next five years.

From a standing start just two years ago, the Mammoth brand can now be found in stores ranging from Selfridges to AHF and Furniture Village, as well as a number of leading independent retailers.

Founder and MD of Mammoth Technologies, John Tuton, said: “We’re passionate about enhancing sleep no matter what age or lifestyle. Our products are clinically proven to have pain relieving benefits and provide superior control of temperature.”

John Tuton and Mike Nash from The Foam Company collaborated to take Mammoth’s original mattress for athletes and people suffering from injuries to the wider consumer.

“Originally our mattresses were designed for athletes but we have taken it to the next level to help people who are suffering from injuries, chronic illnesses, need pressure relief or generally looking to get a better night’s sleep. Our mattresses are the only products of their kind and there’s clearly a demand for them – we’re delighted with the company’s growth so far and are excited to see it develop further in the years to come.”

Mammoth Technologies uses enhanced medical grade foam in its products and as John has a medical background in the care of chronically ill patients, he was determined to present his products as scientifically sound and drew on clinical research into the raw materials conducted by the Department of Health. Due to stringent testing, Mammoth mattresses are Class 1 registered medical devices with the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority (MHRA).

Mammoth has affiliations with various health, educational and sporting authorities. They include the University of Northumbria Sleep Science Centre, the Newcastle University School of Bio-Sciences, the British Athletes Commission, English and Irish Rugby Players Associations, the UK Chiropractic Patients Association and recently, sleep expert Professor Jason Ellis.
