Japan to be partner country of Ambiente 2014

Consumer-goods fair Ambiente is once again set to occupy Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre with more than 4700 exhibitors from 7-11th February 2014. The entire eastern section of the exhibition centre with Halls 1 to 6 is reserved for the Dining section while the Giving and Living sections share the western section with Halls 8 to 11. With these three product sections, Ambiente presents the complete range of consumer goods for the table, kitchen, household and dining, as well as giving, the home and furnishing. Ambiente is not only the sector’s launching pad for new products but also the venue for a wide variety of events, promotional programmes for young designers, trend shows and awards ceremonies.

At the beginning of the 2013 business year, 4714 exhibitors from 81 countries presented their latest products and innovation for five days on 330,000 sq metres of exhibition space. 140,000 trade buyers from 143 countries travelled to Frankfurt to see this huge spectrum for themselves. Numerous renowned companies have already registered for 2014. They include Alfi, Authentics, Boltze, Eichholtz, Exotica Cor Mulder, Fink, Gilde Handwerk, Guaxs, Guzzini, Kare Design, Kosta Boda, Lambert, Le Creuset, Leifheit, Mepal, Philippi, Troika and WMF.

Next year, Japan will be the partner country of the world’s leading consumer-goods fair in Frankfurt. The Ambiente Partner Country Globe was handed to Japan by France at a special ceremony during Ambiente 2013. After Denmark and France, Japan is the third Ambiente partner country and the first from Asia. An extensive programme including a theme day, special activities and events is planned. The ambassador of the project is architect and designer Yukio Hashimoto.

Ambiente 2014 is also the foremost platform for the high-volume business outside China. In six exhibition halls, more than 1400 selected, export-oriented exhibitors from Asia, Africa, South American and the USA present their latest products under the motto Volume Sourcing. The spectrum of products to be seen ranges from industrially made goods, via hand-crafted articles in large quantities, to solutions in the customising field.

Ambiente covers offers and solutions in the fields of business equipment and furnishings and Horeca (Hotel Restaurant Catering) with its Contract Business programme. Around 250 exhibitors from 30 countries offer expertise and customised solutions aimed at professional buyers, furnishing specialists, interior architects, restaurateurs and representatives of up-market hotels.

The most important trends for the table, kitchen, home and giving segments will be on show at Ambiente 2014 for the seventh time in Galleria 1 under the motto Sovereign Composure. The four trend worlds – ‘stunning temper’, ‘subtle spirit’, ‘serene nature’ and ‘striking mind’ – are the work of style agency bora.herke.palmisano. The trend show will be supplemented by daily guided tours and lectures.

For many young designers, the Talents and Next programmes represent important rungs on the careers ladder. Talents offers young designers from the fields of product and furniture design (Loft, Hall 11.0) and tableware (Table Contemporary Design, Hall 4.0) an international, professional setting where they can present their ideas, designs and prototypes and make contact with potential manufacturers. Next is aimed at young companies that have already been able to chalk up initial successes in the consumer-goods sector and now want to become established. The Talents and Next areas are to be found in the Loft (Hall 11.1), Young & Trendy (Hall 11.0) and Carat (Halle 9.3) product segments.

Following the successful presentations in 2012 and 2013, next year sees the third edition of the Solutions special show, which focuses on clever solutions, especially for cooking, wining and dining. Tomorrow’s consumer goods will be distinguished by new materials, useful supplementary features and special design characteristics. Curated and designed by Sebastian Bergne, the Solutions special show spotlights clever solutions and genuine technical innovations in the foyer of Hall 4.0.

As in previous years, Ambiente 2014 will also provide the setting for a variety of renowned awards ceremonies: consumer goods that skilfully combine aesthetic qualities and practical benefits are honoured with the Design Plus Award and the winning products exhibited in a special show in Galleria 1. The German Design Award is presented on the first day of the fair and visitors will also find the exhibition in Galleria 1. The winners of the Plagiarius, Kitchen Innovation Award and ProK Product of the Year awards will also be chosen during Ambiente.
