Grange captures the essence of French history

Drawing upon the history and pared down elegance of traditional, provincial French furniture, Grange has perpetuated the French cabinetmaking tradition for more than a century. Through continued innovation and expertise, the company’s inspirational family furniture has become renowned around the world.

Established by Joseph Grange in 1904, Grange is one of the oldest cabinetmakers in existence in France today. More than 100 years later, all of Grange’s furniture is still made by hand using the concept of Meubles de Famille – warm, original and durable creations that fit the family home. The company has retained its manufacturing base in the Monts du Lyonnais, where its reputation as an expert in cabinetmaking remains unmatched.

Throughout an illustrious history, Grange has expanded its range to include beds, consoles, chests of drawers and more. Each and every piece continues to draw inspiration from provincial French château furniture and, in particular, the eye-catching styles of Provence. Whilst the traditional feel and style remain, the pieces have been tailored to suit the demands of the modern consumer.

Grange craftsmen carefully stain, lacquer, wax and polish each piece of furniture to give it a distinctive translucency, silkiness and satin-touch finish. A wide variety of contrasting collections and styles is available, including the Mémoire range – which provides a touch of heritage – featuring replicas of furniture that once graced the homes of well-known historical figures.

For those with tastes out of the ordinary, the Exceptions de Grange range includes pieces with a unique, unconventional appeal. Grange’s modular solutions are the most ostentatious products offered by the brand, whilst Jacob is a colourful and trend-inspired collection. In addition, the new 1904 collection has a more contemporary feel, catering to a younger demographic.

Grange’s experience, together with continually-renewed creativity, enables the brand to provide a comprehensive response in terms of interior decoration. Taking into account varying needs and lifestyles, it provides original solutions in which every detail counts. With an attentive approach, Grange works to choose furniture, finishes, fabrics and various fittings that add the extra final touches to enhance the identity of an interior space.

“Grange is evolving and moving towards more of an interior designer/decorator role. The message we want to put out to consumers and architects is quite clear – come to Grange to create your own interior, your own way,” says Drazen Babic, MD.

“All of our pieces can be customised in terms of finish and colour to suit individual tastes. Grange offers interior design solutions for many different areas of the home, and the bespoke appeal of the business is definitely the way forward for us.”

‘My Grange’, a new in-store tool which allows the user to add a personalised touch to their furniture, plays a large part in Grange’s new business model, supporting its fresh way of thinking. The tool enables the consumer to select a piece of furniture, choose a preferred finish from 80 available options and then position it however desired on the furniture to produce and view the unique piece in 3D.

Drazen concludes: “The future looks bright for Grange. We are continuing to develop the brand abroad – in South Korea in particular – and we currently also have some exciting projects centred around fitting out palaces in Saudi Arabia! In addition, we will continue to maintain our focus on product quality and originality, but more and more on the services we can offer to the consumer.”
