Luxury bedroom furniture retailer Feather & Black is pleased to appoint a new head of buying with a wealth of knowledge in the global textiles industry.
Phillipa MacDermott has joined the nationwide team of bed experts after a career in buying spanning almost two decades. Her experience ranges from working within lifestyle and home as a buyer at Laura Ashley.
Phillipa began her career studying Textile Design in Huddersfield, specialising in weave design, before securing a role as a buyers admin assistant at Arcadia. She then worked for Principles, creating orders, approving trims and selecting buttons before embarking on a year’s travelling to explore India, Nepal and New Zealand.
The new head of buying specialised in bedlinens for five years, working with mills to create jacquards and printed fabrics, and worked in lighting for six years, developing new ranges to create different ambience effects for each area of the home and garden.
She hopes to draw inspiration for her new role from her love of antique markets, including her favourites at Kempton Park, Alfie’s market and Ardingly.
“From an early age, I have always had a passion for textiles and fabrics as well as a love of antique markets. My career has allowed me to work with a vast collection of archive prints and patterns that I have translated into many designs. I have worked across many categories, including buying upholstery, bed linens, soft textiles, home accessories and lighting and have travelled across the world, working with amazing creative designers from the UK to India, exploring flea markets, fairs and stunning stores," Phillipa says.
“I hope to build on the success of the Feather & Black brand by creating different lifestyle bedrooms for our customers to choose from. I am looking forward to helping customers create their own perfect bedtime through new furniture ranges, luxury mattresses and a range of accessories.”
