The administrators of high-street chain BHS hope to settle on a rescue deal by the end of the week, as a result of receiving four offers for the business on Tuesday.
Bidders are thought to include Philip Day, the owner of Edinburgh Wooden Mill and Peacocks, Sports Direct's Mike Ashley, Matalan founder John Hargreaves in conjunction with Turkish businessman Cafer Mahiroglu, and an unknown European retailer.
Bidders have been advised that the administrators will only listen to offers for the entire estate of 164 BHS stores, in the hope of saving most of the near 11,000-strong workforce.
BHS went into administration last month, a year after being sold for £1 by Sir Philip Green to Darren Topp.
